Marct AI 5/25 - Vax/NLP, Co w/ Snoop Dogg, Retail Marketplaces, Sequoia's new AI list, and more!
Welcome to Marct AI edition #4, an exclusive/curated email thread for a first-look at some exciting AI-related startup opportunities + bonus gigs.
I'll put some brief thoughts with each opportunity in italics (look for AK's thoughts) on why I decided to include it/what makes it interesting compared to the thousands of other postings on the interweb. Opportunities are full-time unless indicated otherwise. Still experimenting with the format, style, and organization so expect to see some changes.
If you like what you read, please forward this to a friend who might enjoy this content. If you are just seeing this email for the first time, join this exclusive thread by filling out the form here :)
Full-time and Internships:
Faire - Data Science Intern: online wholesale marketplace for local retail.
AK's thoughts: underrated and untapped AI opportunities in retail/cpg; level the playing field and help local shops and boutiques curate products and compete with big box; three engineering problem areas: personalization (recommendation, ranking, search), growth & experimentation, marketplace optimization & underwriting.
Lily AI - ML Scientist, ML Engineer, ML Engineering Manager, Data Analysts, Principal SW Engineer: relevant shopping experiences.
AK's thoughts: staying on the theme of retail; auto-tagging rich product attributes, extract and predict emotional context for a personalized experience; women and immigrant-founded; concrete way of solving the paradox of choice with AI (a problem so prevalent in this century); customer-first culture to solve deeply human problem.
Pngme - Data Engineer, Data Scientist, ML Engineer: unified financial data API for Africa.
AK's thoughts: Continental and global distribution of wealth; unique approach to financial data innovations like synthetic credit scores based on billpay+p2p transactions; API core to empowering developers and banks to unlock access for literally billions of people.
Copy.ai - Any and all internships and ft roles: faster, fresher, better copy.
AK's thoughts: leading startup applying GPT-3 (language model); multiple interesting use-cases including marketing, blogging, fiction writing; 100k+ signups and solid progress towards product-market fit; creative problem with less absolute right/wrong answers and more flexibility.
Cameo - Talent Analyst: personalized video feat. your favourite stars.
AK's thoughts: create magical moments for fans by connecting them with their favourite talent; consumer-centric marketplace; opportunities to connect with celebrities e.g. Snoop Dogg; best in class workplace (rated by LinkedIn, Forbes, Fast Co); make decisions grounded in business implications and customer experience like pricing, onboarding priorization, happiness with both unstructured and structured datasets.
Misc, Random, Interesting Opportunities:
Techstars - Finance & Investment Data Intern: seed-stage accelerator.
Unshackled Ventures - Head of Community: investing in early-stage immigrants from day zero.
Full-disclosure: I'm a Unshackled Fellow, so I'm obviously biased, but the team is very down-to-earth team and values-driven. I'd highly recommend working here:)
